Giethoorn & surroundings

The scenic water village of Giethoorn in the middle of National Park Weerribben-Wieden (https://visitweerribbenwieden.com/) has around 175 small wooden bridges and also impresses with its reed-thatched houses and its lovely gardens along the canals.
Our Bed & Breakfast is located at around 2.5 km from the centre of Giethoorn South. Boat trips are extremely popular in Giethoorn – and for a good reason. The perspective from the water is really stunning.
The charming landscapes of the surroundings also offer a great variety: The National Park Weerribben-Wieden is obviously characterized by water, reeds and peatlands. People used to extract peat here. And where a heavy storm tide ripped off those pieces of land, shallow waters and lakes were left behind. In our neighbouring province of Drenthe, you’ll rather find forests, drifting sands, heathland and, of course, the famous megalithic tombs.
Our region is a paradise for a lot of insects, butterflies, birds and water creatures. Storks, cormorants, great white egrets and dragonflies of all sorts feel at home here.
When you like cycling you can go touring for hours without touching the ground with your feet. Stop lights won’t stop you – only a drawbridge opened for boats can force you to take a break. And if, during winter time, the frozen canals are solid enough, you can witness how crazy the Dutch are about ice skating.

Within close proximity:
